The Odyssey

In the Odyssey story of Odysseus as told by Homer our hero is called to face many obstacles and challenges. He must fight with the help of his crew members. In the journey, King Odysseus is transformed into a hero and creates a lasting impression.
Odysseus was called to fight in the Trojan War in Troy. Odysseus knew this was his calling and needed to defend his people. Odysseus had a great threshold and fight long and hard in the war. When the War ended all he wanted was to go home to his wife and child and resume his place as king of Ithaca. The descent home was not an easy one. Odysseus Journey should have taken him about 2 weeks, however he faced many obstacles and challenges along the way. The journey home to his wife and son took him 10 years.
Odysseus landed on the island of the Cyclops Polyphemus, son of Poseidon God of the Sea. Polyphemus was not a very nice host to Odysseus and his crew. The Cyclops ate some of the crew members, so Odysseus and his crew repaid him by poking his eye out with a sharp stick. Because Odysseus had such a big ego while sailing away he made sure the Cyclops knew who it was that blinded him. This enraged his father who made Odysseus journey on the sea very difficult. Odysseus should have been a good mentor for his crew, but because of his large ego he made the journey long and hard for all of them. Odysseus and his crew ended up on an island with the Witch Circe. Circe transformed his men into pigs. Odysseus and his crew were stuck on this island for a year before the transformation back to men took place and they were able to escape. Odysseus next challenge was the Siren Finally Odysseus returns home to Ithaca. He arrived disguised as a beggar to find that the young men of the kingdom had taken over his home. They wanted Penelope to give up on Odysseus and remarry. Penelope agreed but on one condition, she would hold a contest and whatever man could string Odysseus bow and shoot threw 12 axes, she would marry. Odysseus still disguised as a beggar stepped up and was the only one who was able to complete the task, which Penelope knew.

Odysseus had faced many challenges so far and was faced with his most difficult challenge in his journey. His journey had now brought him to make a decision of whether he should challenge the Whirlpool Charybdis and be drug into the abyss or take on the six headed sea monster Scylla. Odysseus knew that if he went into the whirlpool he and his entire crew would be lost forever. So he made the decision not to tell his men about Scylla. They crew would not have continued to row that way if they knew six of them would die. Odysseus tried to fight Scylla but there was no hope the monster quickly took six of his men. Odysseus landed on the island Ogygia home of the Goddess Calypso. Calypso loved Odysseus and put him under spell and kept him on the island for 7 years until her father Zeus ordered her to release him. Calypso did not want to release him but did and helped him make a small boat to get off the island.
Finally Odysseus returns home to Ithaca. He arrived disguised as a beggar to find that the young men of the kingdom had taken over his home. They wanted Penelope to give up on Odysseus and remarry. Homer’s epic poem demonstrates a true Hero’s Journey. Odysseus is called to fight. During his journey he overcomes challenges with help from his crew members. Odysseus proves himself to be and epic warrior. I believe this story even though not true shows that everyone faces challenges and obstacles throughout life and if never give up and you will make it.

my fears are that i wont make enough money to support my family i want to go to college and make good money im very smart but i dont ever want my family to go through bad times.

my respondsible time was when i had to baby sit a new born the mom didnt even know me but she gave me her baby and i held it but then she asked me to change it and all.
then she left him at this party where we were at and this woman didnt evn know me
i was amazed what if i was a dangerous person like what if i was a kid naper you know
then the baby would be gone but i took care of it as my own.

One time in my life were i felt really responsible and mature was when i did the dishes for the first time. I felt more mature because no one had to ask me to do them or tell me to do them i just decided to do them for my mom while she was at work.

One day when i felt ever mature was when i study to get my hunter safey lisen and it took me alot of studying it took two nights to night to pass the test.When i passed i was so proud of my self cause it was not a easy test. Me and my grandfather took the test.My aunt also took the test but it took her a two times on the test cause messed up on it.

One of my most mature moments was trying to get a job. On my own, of course. I went to alot of places like fast food resturants. To go more into detail I went to: MAC DONALDAS,California Pizza,Taco Bell, El Poyo Loco,Jack in the Crack,Pizza Plus. And that is about it I think.

I want to move out of the house a.s.a.p. I don't know why really, except for the facts that i will be able to drive and have my own car. Also i will be able to get my own apartment and live on my own as an independent person. I can't wait to finally be able to go wherever i want and do whatever i want. At the same time i do not want to leave home because i know i will miss my family. I am the man of the house and have a lot of responsibilities, but one day i will have to move out.

My biggest Fear for growing up is not knowing where I'm going to end up. Why?, Well if I don't get my diploma from finishing high school I'm going to end up with a crappy job. Maybe work at McDonald or maybe something even worse. I really don't want to end up living with my mom at the age 20,25. I just want to be independent and make my mom prode and not make her feel like a shame. For me, In life I expect Myself to become a Doctor I life and not be a McDonalds Work and cleaning the bathroom and make a little money. My greatest fears and conflicts is not knowing what i want to be now that i am growing up. I feel lost and confused about what my future job is gonna be. I remember my great childhood life and miss it, so much. The thing i miss about it the most is that i rarly had any worrys on my mind everything was so easy back then. Now i have to worry and plan my life and face reality.Pretty soon i am gona have to start paying bills and get a job. Everything is going so fast and it scars me because i don't want to grow up and pay bills and start getting old.

My fears of becoming an adult is that there is not going to be no turnig back ones I start gettign a carrer and all that stuff. I think that one of my worst fears of becoming an adult is losing my birthday party club membership card for ten percent off at Toys 'R' Us, i also am afraid of not being able to go to Chuck E. Cheese. I am afraid of this because I love these things, they make me very happy and to lose them would just kill me inside. the only thing that would probably be good is that i could drive there but i wouldn't be able to go in by myself. So, thats what im scared of when i become an adult.

I dont do responsible things very often because I'm really imature, but the most responcible and mature thing I've ever done is not fight with my sister. she tried to start a fight out of no where, and I usually go along with it, but this time i didnt. even when she kicked me I didnt fight back. My fears that I have right now of growing up is responsibility. I know that when I grow up I'm going to have to be on my own. And that I'm going to have to get a job and pay my bills. Also that i wont be able to go out as much anymore because i will have to do other things.And be more independent.But also I'm not that scared of growing up because I could do things that I want to do. And be able to go where I want and when i want. Also I would like to be more on my own and do my own things without anybody telling me what to do. My fears and conflicts that i have in my life are many but one of them would be growing up to be a responsible and meature and,to what ill do in my future.
My job is to get good grades but the years pass fast and I'm still not sure about what i want to do in my feature. There is many things that i can chose but how would i know that its right for me or even if i like it..? In my place i would really want to have a job that i like for myself because there is many people out there that have there jobs and don't like them so why even do them. Better off do something that you like to do, for the fun and best of it making
life more better and easier. So my fear in this case would be what i want for my future life and that question is a mystery from here on....

My biggest fear for growing up is that I won't be successful as an adult. I fear that I won't have a good job and that I won't even graduate high school. I fear that I won't get into a good college. I fear that I won't make it on my own once I move out of my parents house, but I think as long as I get a good education I should be ok. I also fear 2012 and I really hope it doesn't happen, even though most people say it's not going to happen. Overall my goal in life right now is to be successful, make my family proud and overcome these fears I have right now.
